Save The Date

Well, it's official. Me and Andy set a date, booked our location, and put down a deposit! Yay!! June 3rd, 2010 I will become Mrs. Ashley Evans. I couldn't be more excited for this day to come.
Now that the date is set we have a few months to just sit back and relax before the major planning comes about. The location we are getting married at is Stonebrook Manor and the best part about this place, they pretty much do everything on site. From food, to cake, to tables/linens, to the ceremony, to a DJ, and everything in between! I highly recommend Stonebrook to anyone that is getting married in Colorado! I can't wait to marry Andy and officially call him my husband. I knew that only after a few months of dating that this was the man I was going to marry and spend the rest of my life with. (It's crazy cause when we first moved in together, we talked a little about getting married, and we both decided we wanted a June wedding if it was really ever going to happen and then after years of changing dates around like crazy from August to September to May and now the final date is in June.... It is meant to be!) We have been together for almost 4 years and have been through so much together (so much!! You wouldn't even believe some of our stories...) but through it all, he still brings butterflies to my stomach. I still miss him when he leaves for work and I still get the biggest smile on my face when I hear him come in the door. And even though he can make me mad more then anyone can, all he has to do is look at me with a sincere look, and my heart melts all over again. Andy- I am so lucky to marry you and I am so happy that you chose me to grow old with you. I know that we have lived together for most of our relationship and we've had the little guy around for 2 years now and so it has pretty much felt like we were already married, but I seriously can't even begin to express my happiness for this special day to come. I am so lucky to have you and Mason in my life. Thank you for opening up your heart to me! I love you so much and can't wait to be your wife..... although "baby's mama" did have a nice ring to it, but I guess I can give that up now! :)

.... In a nutshell ....

So I guess you can call me a Slacker. I haven't updated in awhile. To pick off from where I left it.... We celebrated Andy's Bday by camping up around Boulder. Mason had a great time but for us it was a little overwhelming when the little one didn't go to bed til after 11 p.m. and then decided to wake up at 5 a.m. It was a hard day. Let's just say that Mason isn't the funnest person when he doesn't get sleep. But besides that it was a great time!! Then we celebrated Mason's 2nd bday!! We decided to go mellow this year and just went to the Children' s Museum and let Mason loose. He LOVES the museum!! A few days after we went camping with the fam in Craig and celebrated Mason and his cousin Jade's Bday! Dora and Diego style. We had a great time camping and loved getting together with all the fam. On our last day of camping we got some horrible news that my Grandpa was given only a few days left and so we started making plans to go to Utah. Utah- home sweet home. It was so great to see all of the family and we were able to celebrate my Grandpa's life and honor him. My cousin sure did say it right when she said "It's awesome how you can go so long without seeing each other and then once we are back together it is like time never passed" I agree completely. I miss my Grandpa and love him very much. I am happy he is in a place were his sickness no longer haunts him. Then a week later, my other Grandpa passed. Makes ya thinks how precious life really is. Although I was not close to this Grandpa I still have many memories of being younger and visiting him in AZ. Death is starting to become a regular thing around me. It's really uncomfortable for me. I guess that may have something to do with the first death I had to deal with. Hard. Every time someone passes it rips open the wound that is healing about Mikey and sometimes it gets a little overwhelming. Will that wound ever heal?? Mikey's birthday is coming up. Hopefully this year will be a little easier to get through. I miss him so much and think about him every day......

Happy Daddy's Day!!!

Father's Day 2009

This Father's Day we went to The Denver Zoo. It was good weather, good amount of people, Mason was such a good kid (and without a nap!!) and then we finished it up with some good BBQ and some good beer. All in all a very good day!
Happy Father's Day Andy!!

Mason and Andy riding the train around the zoo

This was hilarious. The monkey checked out Mason and Mason checked out the monkey.

Brace yourself, I know Andy's smile can be very contagious...

Exactly what a man should be doing on a day like Father's Day!!

To my baby's daddy:

I love you so much. You are such a cute daddy and Mason totally adores you. Thank you for being such an example to him in the following ways...... By having him grab you beer from the fridge (which Mason actually calls beer, Daddy) also by teaching the right things to say when you want to express yourself like "I ain't no punk bitch" and "Son of a bitch" (so special) For teaching him that schedules only happen when Mom is around, and bedtime is just a 7 letter word. I thank you!

....Just joking....

All jokes aside, Andy you truley are such an amazing Dad. It has been such an amazing experience watching you with Mason. He loves his daddy-o and seriously adores you. He copies everything you do and wants to be just like you. When I think of the man that I would like Mason to become, I think of you! Thank you for being such a help in this crazy thing called parenting and for being such a cute Daddy!! We love you!

Movie Night

Recently we had let Mason pick out some movies at Blockbuster. Of course his choices were Thomas the Train (no brainer) and Diego. As soon as we got home we had to watch Thomas or has he calls it "Choo Choo DVD" and then we told him he could have a special movie night that night. We switched over to the Diego movie mostly because if I had to hear that damn Thomas the Train song one more time I was going to break the DVD. So for my sanity and to save costs at the movie store we opted for Diego's underwater adventure. (Side note: I only got this so he'd think going underwater would be ok. If Diego does it, maybe he would. He has been insanely afraid of water lately. He'll get in the bath, but as soon as you want to wash him off or wash out his hair, bloody mary screams. No such luck though. We watched this movie a week and a half ago and the screaming has yet to seize.) So we popped in the DVD, popped some popcorn, grabbed some juice, and made a bed on the floor. Mason thought this was THE COOLEST thing! About half way through the movie Mason crawled over to me and gave me a big hug and said "I love you mommy!" I knew at that moment that sitting through 98 min of Diego asking me the same questions over and over and over again, was all worth it.

Happy Birthday Ashley

This years birthday rocked!! Andy had to work on my actual bday so Mason and him had a pretend bday a few days earlier. They locked me in the bedroom and decorated the entire house in Hello Kitty decorations. (Loved it!) That night Andy made me an amazing dinner with steak, crab, mashed potatoes and finished it up with some cupcakes. It was perfect! Then on my bday my Mom and Step Dad came up for the weekend and surprised me with my nephews, Kaden and Preston. It was a great bday surprise!! My step bro and his gfriend came over and we had cake and ice cream and opened presents. Thanks to everyone that made it so special!
Happy Birthday Ashley!!

NAMI Walk

National Alliance on Mental Illness

Today Andy, Mason and Me walked at the NAMI walk- Denver in Cheeseman Park. What an awesome experience. Thousands of people joined together to raise money and support the organization. The total raised just for the Denver walk was aprox. $104,000. All I can say is WOW!!!! I love people joining together to support such a great cause. And one that has lots of meaning to me and my family. My heart was touched by the many groups of people that came. How much money was raised. And mostly, the outcome that comes from these walks. The National Alliance on Mental Illness provides so many services to people that are suffering from a mental illness and all of the services they offer are free due to peoples donations. Truly amazing. My wish is that people struggling with this can reach out to this organization for help. To inform yourself more on this organization or to donate please visit http://www.nami.org/
